Sverdrup K-Steel has become a hit on the scale of K-Pop

Posted in News

Since we established Sverdrup Steel Late November 2017. Had our first customer delivery from the Korean stock in March 2018. Our Sverdrup Steel K-Team has not looked back. The frantic pace of the early days of the startup has just continued. Already this year Sverdrup Steel has invoiced more in 2019 than what we did  throughout 2018.

When setting up Sverdrup Steel Korea we promised to deliver a wide stock range with high volumes for our range of alloys. To uphold the level of service, quality, reliability and delivery performance that our customers has come to expect from the Sverdrup Steel group.

The reception of customers and turnover generated in such a short time really speaks for itself and is a testimony to Min-Young and his team. It is the proof that they have succeeded.

The 2500m2 stock is bursting at the seams with material. Even with a high turnover ratio.

We are very happy to be able to conclude given the results in hand with the following; that the very optimistic strategy and goals we set for Korea is being met.

In addition to the plate stock, we have added a coil stock. This means that we are now able to deliver cut to length plates enabling us to provide the same service in South East Asia. As we do for our European customers from Burg.

Off course with the kind of growth, Sverdrup Steel Korea is achieving. Our Korean branch now have more employees than what was the case when we last gave you an update in April 2018. At that time, the team consisted of three members. Today Min-Young is managing a squad of eight, as presented in the featured picture of this article.

We would like to inform that Steffen Pettersen has taken over the job as Sales Director for our Domestic Market in Norway. Steffen will be still be leading our work towards Oil & Gas globally. His new position is Sales Director Oil & Gas and Domestic Market.

Steffen joined Sverdrup Steel late in 2018, his initial position was to head a new team in Sverdrup that was to focus on oil & gas projects and maintenance both in Norway and internationally.

Steffen has a strong background from oil & gas project work from his many years at Norsk Stål and SFF. With the growth Sverdrup Steel has had over the last couple of years, and the what is to come in coming years. Steffen was a perfect fit for Sverdrup Steel.

We have been very pleased to see how Mr. Pettersen has settled in and how quickly he has become an essential member of the organization. The results produced by him and his team speak for themselves.

Ove Mæhle will retain his role as Purchasing Manager for round bar. He is happy to have more time to handle many of our key customers in the manor they have grown accustomed to through years of cooperation with Ove.

We would like to wish both Steffen and Ove good luck with their new roles.

Sverdrup Steel is a Proud sponsor of the ETCH 1st League 2019 in Sandnes

Posted in Paying it forward

The European Team Championships 1 st League is being held in Sandnes from the 9-11th of August 2019. Sverdrup Steel is proud to a sponsor of the event.

Eleven nations will be competing against each other in 18 different disciplines and two relays. The winner of 1st league will be promoted to the Super League. Athletics is normally an individual sport, but at the ETCH it is a competition between nations and their selected athletes.

The teams competing are Belarus, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, The Nederland’s, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey. Weather Russia will be allowed to compete is yet to be decided.

Sverdrup Steel is thrilled to be in a position where we are able to contribute to the realization of an event like this. Somehow, our contribution seems to pale in comparison to all the “dugnad” (volunteer) work that has and will be carried out by a great many number of volunteers to get this team championship in athletics to run smoothly.

We are very much looking forward to experience the thrill at Sandnes Stadium watching some of Europe’s best athletes competing and giving their all representing their countries.

The hope is that we can contribute to help inspire young athletes to find joy in athletics. So that they can benefit from the sense of achievement and comradery that comes with doing sports, no matter the level.
