Custom Hot Extruded Profiles in Special Alloys

Hot Extruded Custom Profile

Hot extrusion is a specialized manufacturing process that unlocks design possibilities far beyond the limits of traditional rolling. Through our close collaboration with Siderval, a key part of the Montanstahl Group, we deliver profiles with complex cross sections in challenging materials such as high alloy steel, stainless steel and titanium. This technology is ideal for producing seamless shapes and structural components that require superior mechanical properties and high integrity.

By using high heat and hydraulic pressure, we can shape materials that are otherwise difficult to deform. This makes the hot extrusion process the preferred choice when you need specific geometries for demanding environments, ranging from aerospace components to architectural structures.

Engineering Freedom with Seamless Geometries

The primary advantage of this technology is the ability to produce complex solid and hollow profiles that standard manufacturing methods cannot achieve. The process allows for significant design freedom, enabling us to place material exactly where it is needed for performance or weight reduction. This capability makes it possible to realize highly complex geometries even in alloys that are otherwise hard to deform.

Key Advantages

Complex Profiles

Create seamless solid and hollow shapes with undercuts or intricate details that are impossible to roll.

Variable Thicknesses

Design profiles with thick and thin sections combined in a single monolithic bar.

Special Alloys

Process tough materials including stainless steel, duplex, nickel based superalloys and titanium.

Structural Integrity

Achieve superior strength with monolithic bars that have no weld seams or weak points.

Low Tooling Costs

Benefit from significantly lower startup costs compared to traditional hot rolling methods.

Prototyping Feasibility

Validate your design with production runs starting from just a single bar.

Hot Extruder Composite

The Hot Extrusion Process Explained

The process transforms a raw round billet into a finished profile through extreme heat and pressure. The billet is preheated to temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees Celsius, depending on the specific grade, to make the metal malleable. A horizontal hydraulic press then pushes the heated material through a specially designed die.

This method creates a continuous and seamless profile. Unlike welded sections, a hot extruded hollow profile is monolithic, meaning it has no weld seam, which ensures exceptional structural strength. After the extrusion phase, every bar is finished through stretching and straightening to guarantee it is untwisted and meets precise dimensional tolerances.

Agility from Prototype to Mass Production

One of the distinct benefits of hot extrusion is its flexibility regarding volume. While traditional rolling requires massive quantities to be viable, hot extrusion is characterized by low tooling costs and a setup that accommodates small batches.

This agility means we can support your project from the very first step. We can produce single bar prototypes for testing and validation before scaling up to full industrial volumes. This makes hot extrusion steel profiles a smart and economical solution for custom designs where huge minimum orders are not feasible.

Certified Quality for Demanding Industries

Quality control is integrated into every step of the manufacturing chain. Siderval operates an internal laboratory to verify chemical composition and mechanical properties, ensuring that the material performs exactly as specified.

The production facilities operate under a certified management system that meets rigorous international standards. This includes ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and EN 9100:2018, which is the specific requirement for aviation, space and defence organizations. Whether you need profiles for nuclear power generation or marine applications, you receive full traceability and documentation as standard.
