MATERIAL DESCRIPTION

AISI 4130 is a low alloy C-steel containing chromium and molybdenum as strengthening agents. It has low carbon content, and hence it can be welded easily. It is supplied as round bar commonly in the hardened and tempered condition with a hardness of max. 22 HRC.

Applications

AISI 4130 is a low alloyed, hardened and tempered steel used for oil & gas drilling and production equipment – wellhead and christmas tree equipment.

Heat Treatment

Normalized 885 – 926°C. Austenized/ hardened 857 – 885°C. Tempered 650 – 704°C.

Weldability

Good.
