Sverdrup Steel is a global supplier of high performance materials, providing one of Europe’s largest stock holdings in round bars and plates. Our aim is to offer our customers a wide stock selection and high levels of service. We serve customers from all over the world from our two stocks in Stavanger, Norway and Sheffield, England, providing them with the quality they demand.
Sverdrup Steel was established in Stavanger, Norway, in 1992 as Sverdrup Hanssen Spesialstål AS. The company was founded to meet the growing demands from the Norwegian oil and gas service industry for readily available high performance materials. Since founding, the business model has been; to always have the quality material our customers demand, in stock, and supplying it with the high levels of service our customers needs. Over the twenty years that have past since founding, the philosophy has proven to be a success, and it is the main reason for Sverdrup Steel today being one of Europe’s largest stockiest of high performance materials in round bars and plates.
On the twenty-year anniversary of its founding, the company changed it’s name from Sverdrup Hanssen Spesialstål to Sverdrup Steel. Effective from the 1st of February, the new name reflects a new brand identity that increases the emphasis on the international markets. This step is a natural progression of our business and entails an increase in our efforts towards the markets outside of Norway. The opening of a UK branch is part of this new strategy. Our ambition is to get an even stronger foothold in these markets by pursuing and enhancing the same business model that we have always had: Offering our customers a large stock selection, coupled with short delivery times and high levels of service
The company’s head office and biggest stock, is located in Stavanger Norway. Through twenty years of serving the norwegian oil service industry, we’ve built a large customer portfolio. Sverdrup Steel is proud to call itself the market leader in Norway within high alloy materials. Through daily interactions with one of the worlds most quality minded oil and gas markets, we continually improve on our quality standards and service levels. The warehouse in Stavanger measures 6000 square meters. Sverdrup Steel’s Norwegian sales offices are located in; Stavanger, Bergen and Tønsberg.
August 2012 Sverdrup Steel UK opened for business. A new 2000 square meter warehouse located in Sheffield is a part of the company’s new and more international business profile. Being situated in the heart of the modern steel industry’s birthplace, gives access to cost efficient services like heat treatment and boring, and access to low cost international transport routes. These advantages, plus the increased stock selection, will benefit all of our customers, both Norwegian and international.
Since establishment Sverdrup Steel’s philosophy has remained the same, but our customer base has expanded. We have close working relationships with customers from all parts of the world. From Korea and India, through the middle east, to north and south America. Most of the material we sell, finds it’s end use in the oil and gas industry, but we do also supply materials to the following industries; electrical power generation, environmental protection, and marine engineering. We pride ourselves in being a supplier for all sizes of businesses. No order is to small or to big. Try us and we’ll promise to be an asset to your supply chain.
